End K-12 private education – Foster Equity and Equality – We are a community. It is no secret that public education is in abysmal state. It is not surprising. Currently those with the most resources and influence have no reason to support improved public education, they have the necessary resources to send their children to the private school of their choice. People are leaving the public education system in droves and it can be argued that those most needing an effective and supportive school environment are the least likely to get it. It is time for a systematic change at how we look at access to education.
While public education suffers, private education flourishes. Private education creates bubbles for the rich to shelter their children from the realities of the outside community and provides them with a education far above other children in their community. It also prevents their children from knowing other children below their economic class, or outside their race and religion.

This is a video recording of the May Day speech I gave at the lovely and historic Wright Park in Tacoma, Washington State, to a rally organized by Occupy Tacoma and others. This park is a beautiful patch of green in the middle of an urban area, quite close to downtown. The speech I gave at the rally was a bit different than many of of my other speeches in that I delivered this speech in verse, mostly blank verse. When you see the video, you’ll probably notice that.
The sound recording was a bit problematical at times because sudden gusts of wind whipped by the microphone, muddying the sound, and sometimes the microphone picked up too much ambient noise.
Nevertheless, I’m quite happy with the way this video turned out, despite a few technical difficulties in producing it, and I hope you enjoy seeing my speech as much as I did in delivering it.
